Phuket 4 Big Buddha

El Gran Buda es uno de los monumentos más importantes y venerados de la isla. De unos 45 metros de altura y hecho de marmol blanco impresiona según te vas acercando al lugar. Se puede ver desde cualquier punto del sur de Phuket.  Está situado en lo alto de la colina de Nakkerd Hills entre Chalong y Kata. El camino para subir a lo alto esta lleno de curvas y la carretera está un poco descuidada pero las vistas son espectaculares. Te encuentras varias atracciones de elefantes en el camino. La gente para y se hacen las típicas fotos dándoles de comer y demás, pero a nosotros no nos gusta ese tipo de atracciones con animales así que no contibuimos a ello, es nuestra visión. Una vez que llegas a la cima te encuentras un gran parking para coches y motos y un camino que conduce a una construcción donde se encuentran estatuas de budas y demás figuras donde la gente reza y ofrece sus ofrendas. En el interior está un monje que te coloca una pulsera y te hace como un ritual de protección y buena suerte, muy curioso y claro.... nosotros no nos pudimos resistir! :)
Seguido a este punto encontrarás unas escaleras que te llevan directo a la cima donde ya encuentras al Gran Buda... es enorme!! Lo consideran un simbolo de la esperanza, bonito eh?!
A su alrededor, en su base, hay muchas más estatuas de budas y figuras míticas, si será por budas ;)
Las vistas son preciosas, Phuket Town, Kata, Karon beaches, Chalong Bay...
Se respira tranquilidad allí arriba y el único sonido que se escucha es el tintineo de las campanillas que están por todas partes, colgadas en arboles o puestas en una cuerda y los embelesadores mantras cantados por los monjes.
Un lugar precioso que hay que ver si visitas Phuket ;)

Big Buddha is one of the island's most important and revered landmarks. It has 45 meters high and it is made of white marble, it impresses you when you approach the place. It can be seen from any point in the south part of Phuket. It sits on top of the hill Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata. The path you must take to get to the top is full of curves and the road is a little sloppy but the views are spectacular. You´ll find several attractions of elephants on the road. People stop there and take the typical pictures giving them food, but we don´t like that kind of animal attractions so we didn´t contribute these things, it is our vision. Once you reach the top you find a parking for cars and motorbikes and a path leading to a building where there are Buddhas and other figures and people praying and offering their offerings. Inside you will find a monk who puts you a bracelet as a ritual of protection and good luck, very curious and of course we did it!! Followed at this point you find stairs that take you straight to the top where you can find the Big Buddha, it is huge!! It is considered a symbol of hope, nice eh! Around it there are more statues of Buddhas and more mythical figures. The views of Phuket Town, Kata, Karon beaches, Chalong Bay are nice... You can feel serenity and the only sound you hear is the ringing of the bells, they are everywhere, hanging in trees or hung on a rope and chanting of mantras by monks.
