Phuket 5 Wat Chalong Temple

It is one of the 29 Buddhist temples in Phuket. It is the most visited by both Thais and touristsBuddhist people come to the temple to pay respect to the Buddha by lighting candles, offering lotus flowers. Often you will see firecrackers being set off as a way of showing gratitude for prayers that have been answered. Local people also go to the temple to ask for the winning lottery numbers and to pray for health, good luck and wealth. One of many stories said it was built in honour of two monks who helped to calm the Chinese rebellion that took place here in 1876 and who also treated the wounded people because they had herbal medicinal knowledge. People in this and all the temples have to take out their shoes and women have to cover their shoulders with a scarf, so there are always people outside giving you one.The day we visited the temple even though there were many people we could perceive silence and respect wherever we were. One tip, if you visit places that are outdoors, take your hat and a bottle of water because the hot weather and humidity are horrible, dogs know better, we saw several of them under the shadow, they were really well there :)

Los perros listos a la sombra :)
